Sarah has practiced family law since 1993 and became a partner of Basman Smith in 2004. She is named as a Best Family Lawyer by The Best Family Lawyers in Canada. She helps clients negotiate marriage contracts, co-habitation and separation agreements and resolve complex support, property, custody and access disputes. Sarah represents clients in mediations, arbitrations and before the courts.
She speaks and writes frequently on family law issues. She is the author of educational materials used by the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Licensing process covering the topics: Custody and Access, Child Support, Spousal Support and Enforcement of Support Orders.
Sarah received her LL.B. from the University of Toronto and her B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. from Queen’s University. Sarah served as Law Clerk to Mr. Justice Cory at the Supreme Court of Canada. Sarah was counsel to the Ontario Law Reform Commission and practiced family law at two national law firms before joining Basman Smith LLP.
She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates’ Society.
